| Friday 5 th October saw the inaugural St Annes Baptist Church/Logos Golf Ministries Outreach Golf Day held at Lytham Green Drive Golf Club n Lytham St Annes.
Thirty four players teed off on what was one of the best days of the autumn and the sweat on some brows had nothing to do with trying to force a score. Three brave ladies joined us and did themselves justice in their scoring. The winner of the event was Phil Bowman of St Annes Baptist Church with a Stableford score of 43 points off an 18 handicap ( I predict a cut in handicap for next time).
In the evening a dinner was enjoyed and our guest were Malcolm Gregson of the European Seniors Tour and Howard Bennett. Malcolm was a Ryder Cup player in 1967 and winner of the Varden Trophy for topping the European Order of Merit in that same year. Howard was former coach to the Golfing Union of Ireland and coached Padraig Harrington for 10 years. Both shared their experiences in golf and their personal faith in Jesus Christ.
A resounding success? Indeed, since everyone who took part wanted to know when the next one was. For the record it is Friday 25 th April 2008. |
